After completing his Dutch studies and a few years in retail clothing, Hugo (1957) crossed over in 1982 to the Automotive sector to which he has remained loyal up to the present day. After stints as salesman, manager, commercial director and co-shareholder at BMW dealer Van der Sluys, Hugo and 5 of his fellow managers got the opportunity in 1994 to introduce the Korean Daewoo car brand into Benelux. This was followed by sales management positions at other brands and import organisations like Kia and Mitsubishi until in 2006 he became General Manager for Network Development and Strategy at Mitsubishi Motors Europe. He then became a Management Consultant and Hugo continued his career as Director for Sales and Marketing at Webasto Thermo & Comfort Benelux.

“During my activities within the disciplines of Development and Consultancy I have been focusing more on quality improvements for businesses and organisations in automotive. Central to this are the people, the job holder and his duties. That is one of the reasons for coming to work for a strong professional organisation like Heiwegen.”

Hugo is married to Evelien. They have 2 children (Marloes and Joris) and live in the picturesque village of Werkhoven where they enjoy the country life in their converted farmhouse in the Kromme Rijn region. In his spare time Hugo dabbles in DIY and cooking, and for the last 3 years Hugo and Evelien have been enjoying their granddaughter Felien.

“By connecting the right people with the required competencies to the appropriate job role through a professional recruitment and selection method, we offer our clients more continuity in their organisation and we supply motivated people.”

Hugo focuses his activities for Heiwegen Consultancy on the automotive industry.

“But automotive stands for automobility and there are still more segments that we are going to develop”, says Hugo.
